Privacy Policy
Overview
Control Room (“we”, “us”) runs this website and the Control Room Facebook page. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain, the same way we write everything else.
What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account to read the site. Most of what we collect is the ordinary, non-identifying data any website sees: your browser type, rough location by country, the pages you open, and how you got here.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you give us, and nothing else.
Cookies and consent
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and to measure traffic. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time. We default to the most privacy-preserving option.
Advertising
The site is supported by ads served through a third-party ad network. Depending on your consent, these may use cookies to show more relevant ads and to measure performance. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your ad settings or the banner, and the site still works without them.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which stories are read and how the site performs. This is aggregate data. We do not sell it.
Facebook embeds
Clips on the site are the real public posts from our Facebook page, embedded, and pages like About and Contact show a Facebook Page widget. These embeds load code from Facebook, which can set its own cookies and receive your IP address once loaded.
Because of that, we load Facebook embeds only after you accept, using a click-to-load placeholder. Until you choose to load it, nothing is sent to Facebook. Facebook’s own use of any data it receives is governed by its privacy policy, not ours.
Newsletter
If you sign up, we use your email only to send The 6 p.m. Wire. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and leaving removes your address from the list.
Third parties
We rely on a hosting provider, an ad network, an email provider, and Facebook for embeds. Each processes data only to provide its service. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, email privacy@controlroom.world and we will respond.
Children
The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, note it on the site.
