SUDAN: More than 300 civilians dead after military drones struck a funeral convoy and a market.

The Sudanese army allegedly targeted a truck carrying mourners and a fuel market accused of supplying the RSF paramilitary group.

The strikes represent one of the deadliest single episodes in Sudan’s civil war, now in its second year.

Both sides have repeatedly hit civilian areas as the conflict grinds on with no clear path to negotiation.

◆ Why it matters

The funeral and market strikes show how Sudan’s war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces has abandoned any pretense of protecting civilians. The army justified the fuel market hit by claiming RSF supply links, turning economic targets into mass casualty sites. Neither side faces meaningful international pressure to stop, so attacks on gatherings and infrastructure will continue as each tries to choke the other’s war machine.
